The People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Borno state has vowed to take over government from All Progressive Congress, APC, in 2019 general election.
The statement was made by the state party chairman, Alh. Usman Mahdi Badari who was only recently declared winner of the party’s convention by a federal high court in Miaduguri.
At the party’s inauguration on Wednesday in Maiduguri, Mr. Badari said ‘we are facing 2019 general election and we are calling on everybody to come and join force with us as we are looking forward to forming a PDP government in Borno state come 2019 in sha Allah’.
‘We are going to seize power from APC, they have failed and our people are suffering, and we are here to rescue them.
‘If you can see, people of Borno are complaining everywhere, no adequate payment of workers’ salaries and other issues.
‘We know everything, so when we start our campaign, visit various local governments in the state to discuss with people from the grass root and set our agenda, people will start to run to PDP’, he stated.
Among the problems he listed, he said ‘people are suffering under the present government, you can go to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps and ask them, ask the civil servants and the layman in the streets, you will realize that we have a problem that needs urgent remedy which are willing and hoping to provide if we takeover in 2019, the chairman added.
Also, the newly-inaugurated party secretary, Yusuf Mohammad Dikko stated that ‘we didn’t win the elections in the state because of the wind of change that consumed the political atmosphere in the whole nation, not because we didn’t compete well.
‘But we have high hopes now that our people have realized their mistakes.
‘We now also have a better and solid leadership in the party unlike in 2015, and we will come out with full force, and I can confidently tell you that our oppositions are already afraid of us’, the secretary explained.
